Richard Garriott invented and reinvented the computer RPG genre after every new title of the Ultima series. Playing the whole series is like studying the very history of CRPGs. All games were very popular back in the days, and that's probably why the series went on forever.
After destroying Mondain, you became the great hero of Sosaria. But he left an apprentice and lover, Minax. Terribly upset, she decided not only to destroy you, but wipe out all life on Earth. She travels through time and space to cause a world-wide nuclear war on your world. You too travel through time, now to defeat Minax and undo her terrible evil!
This was the first game on the series released to the PC. The original Ultima for Apple II was later remade into Ultima I: the first age of darkness for PC, but only in 1986.
Ultima II has very simple 4-color graphics. The sci-fi elements are quite unique for the series, not to be repeated again in other titles.
